Woolly says – The day I had spent 6 months waiting for had finally arrived, I was up at the crack of dawn and helped Jo out with a swift few kicks to wake her up which she didn’t seem to appreciate at all. I sat patiently at the door with Alfie the Dog waiting for her to complete all the stupid human things that apparently need doing before we go anywhere, I mean who needs a shower let alone a cup of tea and where is there ever a need to brush your hair! As my patience was running thin, she arrived in front of us and we could start the day.
Our first port of call was into the centre of Oswestry for Jo to return an item this was achieved after much huffing and puffing about the ‘stupid’ road, ‘ridiculous’ parking and the &&&&&&&& well needless to say I’m not allowed to say that about a shop assistant. The real purpose of our trip out was within a few miles and I couldn’t wait.
As he fell of the dashboard for the third time in his excitement and I threatened to put him into the back off the car with the mutt if he didn’t calm down for the fifth time, I was nearly as glad to arrive as him.
Woolly says – Although this was our second visit in recent months to the British Ironworks Centre (see link for previous blog below) I knew it was somewhere that my bestie would enjoy just as much as me. As we paced around the carpark, I was delighted to see that a new motorbike had been added to the ever growing collection of iron work, this was no ordinary bike and each and every piece had been recycled into this tremendous sculpture.
Next to it was something out of an Alien movie with terrifying teeth that had been constructed from nuts, bolts, washers and all manner of car parts, the workmanship was incredible.
Just as I was losing hope of my best friend Sion arriving, I glimpsed the black outline of Ziggy heading our way. My joy and delight as seeing him once again was overwhelming, it seemed so much longer than 6 months but then being lockeddown with Jo, every day had seemed like a year!
Leaving Jen, Sion’s carer, and Jo to catch up for themselves we started our walk around, racing from pigs to mammoths and onto horses and past ostriches there was so much to show him and given his little jumps of happiness I could see that our minds as always agreed on things worth seeing.
Pausing at the wonderful motorcycle that I had so recently ridden alone it was great to have my bestie riding pillion, oh the miles we could travel together if only we could lose the humans we sighed in unison at our burdens in life.
As we paused at the crocodile and Alfie the Dog raised his leg yet again, we heard mention of lunch and quickly bagged our table and sent the women in to purchase our food. Our chats continued discussing possible travel plans for the future, how being locked in with our carers was more than any mammoth and sheep should have to put up with and the price of pistachios in the blazing sun, it was a delight and I just hope that it’s not so long before we can meet up once again.
